The Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag

How are we already halfway through 2025? I feel like I ask this question every time I do this tag. Honestly, as I get older the years go by much faster.

Best Book You’ve Read So Far In 2025?

The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros

The Last Letter has honestly been my number one read this entire year. It made me feel all the feels. This book will most likely stay in the number one spot seeing as I have yet to read anything that compares. I know Rebecca Yarros isn’t for everyone, but she’s definitely for me.

Best Sequel of 2025 So Far?

Keeping 13 by Chloe Walsh

As I am typing this, I am still in the middle of Keeping 13. I have not read a lot of sequels this year and the ones I have read have not blown me away. So far, I’m really enjoying this sequel to Binding 13, it’s flowing really well and I’m constantly wondering what’s going to happen next!

New Release You Haven’t Read Yet, But Want To

Problematic Summer Romance by Ali Hazelwood

I am such a huge fan of Ali’s books. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first book in her new series. I honestly feel like this second one is going to be better. We shall see!

Most Anticipated Release Of The Second Half Of 2025

Mate by Ali Hazelwood

I honestly don’t stay up to date with releases… they kind of just fall on my lap when they are released. I did know that Ali Hazelwood was releasing the second book in the Bride series this year!

Biggest Disappointment In 2025

Into The Dark by Dana Isaly

I honestly don’t remember anything that happened in this book. I know it was a mess and I didn’t enjoy it one bit.

Biggest Surprise Of 2025

Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros

I wasn’t not expecting this book to be good. The thing that was most surprising was the ending. I am dying for the fourth book. I’m definitely going to do a series reread soon just to feel all the feels again!

Favorite New Author (Debut or New To You)

Little Stranger by Leigh Rivers

I am constantly looking for more dark romance authors to love. When I saw this book trending everywhere, I picked it up and absolutely devoured it. I’m definitely wanting more of Leigh on my shelves!

New Favorite Character

I actually don’t do favorite characters… I don’t feel that close to think I could have a favorite to a fictional character. It’s just not something I’m able to do.

Book That Made You Cry

The Last Letter by Rebecca Yarros

I have nothing to say about this book other than it was five stars and that it broke my heart into ten million tiny pieces.

Book That Made You Happy

Silver Elite by Dani Francis

This book gave me some Fourth Wing vibes and I was here for it. It was so nice to read something like that again. I’m hoping we get the second book soon!

Most Beautiful Book You Bought Or Received This Year?

I honestly have gotten so many pretty books. I don’t know which one I think is the prettiest.

Books That You Need To Read Before The End Of The Year?

Too many. Way too many.

  1. I’ve seen quite a bit of hype around Silver Elite, which makes me a bit hesitant to pick it up immediately even though I’m intrigued by the premise and what I’ve heard about it sounds great. I may have to let the hype down a little before daring to dip my toes into the book as I’ve been burned by the hype around a popular romantasy recently and was not happy about it, haha. I hope you continue to read some great books for the rest of the year and find some new faves!
