Looks like I’m back to blogging again! I’ve learned that the thing that makes me burn out quickly is trying to bring everything to the new blog. Here’s the plan… I’m going to start completely over! Which means I will not be bringing any old posts over and I’m just going to start fresh.
I decided to do an easy post to get started. I logged into WordPress and the first post I saw was a book tag done by Celeste, and it’s a Thanksgiving book tag!
Just a heads up, my blog is rather dusty… I am not finished setting it up. I have found it’s easier to set the blog up around a post that has already been made.
Rules:
- Thank the person who nominated you (nobody noninitiated me)
- Give credit to the author (Anna’s Book Nook)
- Answer the prompts
- Tag others if you desire! (I tag EVERYONE!)
Friends and Family: A Book with Characters that Feel Like Family
I honestly feel like I would give any excuse to talk about Fourth Wing. Very similar to when Taylor Swift said she would always find a way to bring up Selena Gomez.
Violet makes an unlikely family with people she was told to not grow attached to and to not make friends with.
I know this series is going to devastate me beyond reason and I’m looking forward to it.
Overall, I’m thankful for this book as well. Definitely my favorite read of 2023.

Fallen Leaves: A Book that Fell Flat (didn’t meet your expectations)
I think this may be an unpopular opinion. I just was not a huge fan of this book. Seeing as it has a rating of 4.13 on Goodreads, I’d say that it’s probably quite unpopular.
There’s a reason why I unsubscribed to Fairyloot and Illumicrate. It’s mostly because the majority of their books are Young Adult. I don’t read much YA anymore.
This was not a bad book by any means… I just found it meh. I rated it two stars.

Thanksgiving Dinner: A Book You Want to Read Every Year During This Season
This book is super spicy. I love a good spicy holiday read! It’s also a short read, which means it’s a great book to reread every year.
Tessa Bailey knows how to write smutty scenes. This is a workplace romance that takes place during the Christmas season. We have a boss/employee relationship.

Turkey: A Book With a Bird in It
This one is a long shot… I read this book in October and I’m already questioning what I remember.
If I am not mistaken, there is a character in this book that is able to shift into a bird. I could be making some crazy shit up too. Who knows?
This is a very spicy vampire romantasy. I enjoyed this book a lot and I’m kinda sad that I have to wait for the third book.
According to Goodreads, I won’t have to wait too long. It’s supposed to come out Jan. 2024… but not cover or title has been revealed yet.

Ham: A Book that Made Your Eyes Glaze Over (Boring)
I can honestly say I was not a big fan of this book. I wanted to enjoy it because a friend recommended it.
Unfortunately, this book was not my cup of tea and I was unhappy with the why of certain things.
This book could have been a favorite. (Check trigger warnings for this one!)

Dinner Rolls: A Book that Melted Your Heart and Made You Feel Warm
To me, this book is very reminiscent of The Last Song.
The Simple Wild is such a good book. It warmed my heart once Calla started to actually care about being in Alaska with her father.
This book also broke my heart, but we’re not talking about that right now.
It took me so long to read this book. I highly recommend it if you love a contemporary that doesn’t contain much spice.

Mashed Potatoes: A Book With a White Cover
Here is another book you may have to check the trigger warnings for!
There Are No Saints is about a serial killer, Cole, who essentially finds himself enamored with Mara. There is another serial killer in this book and he does play a huge part in everything that happens.

🕮🕮🕮
Gravy: A Book You’re not Totally Sure Why You Love, but You Do
Okay, this one is really dark and I don’t think I have a real reason for loving this book.
That did not stop me from rating this book five stars. All I know is I was addicted from page one and could not put the damn thing down.
Again, check your triggers for this one. It’s very dark.

Pumpkin Pie: A Dessert Book That You Love
I think a dessert book is a book that’s short that you can consume rather quickly.
Luckily, this book is roughly 133 pages. I have read this one twice now. Harley Laroux just knows how to write a good short novella and pack so much into it.
I still really need to get to the rest of the books in this series. I don’t understand why I haven’t picked them up yet!

So that’s the tag for today! I tried to keep it to books that I have read this year and I’m pretty sure I accomplished that. Please be sure to comment your answers or do the tag as well!

I 100% agree with you that THE GIRL WHO FELL BENEATH THE SEA did not live up to the hype. It fell flat for me, too. I truly didn’t understand why so many people rated it so highly. The characters were so one dimensional and it just seemed underdeveloped overall. Here’s my review if you feel like commiserating, haha (https://aliteraryescape.com/2022/06/06/book-review-the-girl-who-fell-beneath-the-sea-by-axie-oh/).
I just read KING OF BATTLE AND BLOOD 2 or 3 months ago and I don’t quite remember anyone turning into a bird? I could also be misremembering. Was it the MC’s past life doppelganger person? Idk, that was an ok read for me. Fun, but not a series I’ll push other books aside for.
I think it may have been in the second book… unless I’m making stuff up! But yes it’s the one with the doppelganger.
