This week, we are talking about reading relatability and why you read the books that you read. This is such an interesting topic and I’m pretty excited to see what other people have to say about this topic.
Do you enjoy reading books with high relatability to your past or present situation or do you read purely to escape reality?
This is a tough topic today! I honestly don’t think I read too many books where I feel like I can relate to the main characters. A good chunk of the books I read are dark romance so I definitely don’t have a lot in common with those characters. With that said, I think it’s safe to say that I don’t like to read books where I can relate to the main characters.
Now, I will definitely read some books where the main characters have the worst luck and their life is spiraling. I think that helps to remind me that things are not that bad for me and that things can always be worse. Come to think of it… if I read a book that’s relatable to me I feel like it might be a boring book 😂
Do you seek out a certain type of read, depending on your headspace or mood?
I’m not much of a mood reader, I try to read books randomly. Every now and then, I will get a hankering to read something that will make me cry. So I will definitely go through my books and go through some reviews to make sure it’s what I’m feeling.

Great post! It’s so interesting to see people’s answers this week. I think reading characters really going through it can help you realise that things really aren’t that bad in your life 😂 I also enjoy a book that’ll make me cry every now and again (though to be fair I’m quite an emotional reader so it’s not that difficult, lol)! Thanks for participating in LTB this week 🙂
