My Rating
Living in a year around Christmas town has it’s drawbacks. The caroling, the decorations, the insanely cheery spirit, it never disappears. It’s why I like to hibernate away in my cave–I mean house–keeping a healthy distance from the holly jolly spirits.
And all was going according to plan until my nemesis, Storee Taylor, moved in next door to care for her Aunt Cindy. Without blinking, she turned my simple world into a real nightmare-before-Christmas, especially when she decided to enter the town Christmas Kringle contest – which she was determine to win.
Well guess what? Over my cold-hearted body.
There was no way I was going to let her win, not after the history we’d shared.
So despite my promise to myself of never participating in the sickening Christmas season, I entered the competition as well. That’s right, I planned on beating Storee at her own game by pretending this grump’s heart grew three sizes this season.
And it was working until feelings between us started heating up.
We pretended to date.
We kissed.
And well, sparks flew from there.
Which led to one explosive night involving Christmas lights, the competition, and a ladder. Don’t let me convince you who stole Christmas, I think you need to find out for yourself . . .

My Review
If you’re a fan of watching The Grinch every Christmas, then you’re going to love How My Neighbor Stole Christmas! This book is a deliciously spicy reimagining of the classic Grinch tale, set in a town where Christmas is celebrated year-round. Kringletown is full of festive spirit, and it has one exciting tradition: the annual Christmas Kringle contest, where everyone competes for the title of the most Christmas-spirited person in town. Sound familiar? It’s definitely got a Grinch-y vibe that will have you grinning from ear to ear.
In How My Neighbor Stole Christmas, we follow Storee, who returns to Kringletown after several years, intending to help her aunt Cindy, who’s recovering from a broken hip. But Aunt Cindy has other plans—she insists that Storee enter the Christmas Kringle contest on her behalf, while her sister takes care of her. And so begins the fun, with Storee reluctantly stepping into the competition.
One of the first people she runs into when she gets back is Cole, a former friend from Kringletown who seems to hold a grudge against her. When he finds out she’s entered the contest, he decides to join in too—determined to make sure she doesn’t win.
What I loved about this book is how perfectly it captures the magic of Christmas, with a unique twist. There’s a hilarious narrator at the beginning of every chapter who recites witty little poems that had me laughing out loud. The characters are charming, with names that playfully nod to The Grinch (hello, Cindy Lou Who vibes). And the contest itself? It’s a creative and fun-filled addition that makes for some seriously competitive moments between Cole and Storee.
And let’s talk about the spice. The candy cane scene? Oh yes, it’s as sweet and cheeky as you’d expect, adding a fun, flirty layer to the story.
If you’re looking for a lighthearted, festive read to get you in the Christmas spirit, this one’s a winner. I’ll definitely be revisiting it next holiday season—and I’m hoping the author has more Christmas tales up their sleeve!
