Goodreads Choice Awards – Romance Category

Goodreads Choice Awards – Romance Category

It’s that time of the year where we get to vote on our favorite books of the year. I love the idea of authors getting their flowers whenever it’s deserved. Unfortunately, there is a lot of discourse on Goodreads and how they run their awards. I can definitely see why people complain about it, I have just learned that complaining about Goodreads does nothing because Amazon does not want to spend money to change it.

I wanted to kind of go over the books listed in the categories that I read and the categories I am voting on. I think this will be a fun series to do this year! (PS: don’t look at my blog right now, it’s under maintenance.)

Without further adieu, let’s talk about books!

Books Nominated In The Romance Category

First-Time Caller by B.K. Borison: I read and really loved this book. I knew that B.K. was going to be nominated this year. Her books were constantly being talked about this year and she is truly beloved.

Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez: We all knew that Abby was going to be on this list, as she is every year. I have read this book and it was not my favorite by her and so it will not gain my vote this year.

Can’t Get Enough by Kennedy Ryan: I can honestly say I have only read one book by Kennedy Ryan and I’m working on my second book at the time of making this post. From what I can tell, Kennedy is an amazing author. I haven’t seen this book often, but that’s probably due to the fact it’s the third book in a series.

Deep End by Ali Hazelwood: I think we all knew that Ali was going to be on this list. If she’s ever not, that means that hell has frozen. I did read and enjoy this book. It was not a five-star book for me so it’s not the one I’m picking for this category. Maybe next year, Ali.

Rewind It Back by Liz Tomforde: I am currently working my way through this series and have not yet made it to this one. She is very talented and I would love for her to win. But, I can’t (in good conscience) vote for a book I haven’t read yet.

The Favorites by Layne Fargo: I have heard many mixed things about this book. It did blow up so I understand why it’s on this list. It’s a book that’s on my Goodreads tbr, but I still have yet to purchase it.

Story Of My Life by Lucy Score: I love Lucy Score and her books. Unfortunately, I haven’t gotten to this one yet! Her writing is highly addictive, I can totally see her on this list for many years to come.

One Golden Summer by Carley Fortune: I haven’t read a book by this author yet. I do own two and I’m hesitant to pick them up. I feel like she reminds me of Emily Henry and I’m not the biggest fan of her books.

Till Summer Do Us Part by Meghan Quinn: I love Meghan Quinn’s books. I know a lot of people don’t. I am pretty sure she puts crack in her books and I become addicted.

Spiral by Bal Khabra: I am still needing to pick up a book by this author. Although, I have heard not so great things about his book in particular… I will read it eventually.

If It Makes You Happy by Julie Olivia: I don’t know what about this book makes me not want to read it. Most likely due to the fact everyone compares it to Gilmore Girls and I never liked that show. Maybe I’ll read it one day. Maybe not.

King Of Envy by Ana Huang: I am severely behind on this series… I do love Ana Huang but my randomizer does not. Maybe it will let me read a book of hers again soon!

Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry: I can honestly say I have no inclination to pick this one up. If I happen to end up with a copy, I may read it. I’m just not her biggest fan and will not go out of my way to read her books.

The Gingerbread Bakery by Laurie Gilmore: One this I’ve learned about myself recently is that I do not like cozy books. No cozy romance, no cozy romantasy or fantasy. Just not my cup of tea. I will probably never pick up another book by this author. The covers are super cute though.

Beg, Borrow, Or Steal by Sarah Adams: I enjoy Sarah’s books enough… never enough to want to say it was my favorite romance of the year. I haven’t gotten to this one yet but really want to!

Problematic Summer Romance by Ali Hazelwood: I haven’t read this one yet and obviously won’t vote for it. This is one of the main complaints people have though. How come Ali gets to take up to spots on this list? I know her books are popular but save room for some others.

Scythe & Sparrow by Brynne Weaver: I knew this book was going to be here. This series is very popular. I haven’t read it yet but I am definitely hyping Brynne up because her books are great.

Tourist Season by Brynne Weaver: Again, why does this author have two books on this list. How hard is it to just pick one? I haven’t read this one yet so I will not be voting for this one.

Love Arranged by Lauren Asher: I really enjoy Lauren Asher’s writing. I have only read one book in this series so far. They are just a little on the long side for my liking.

My Vote

Wild Side by Elsie Silver: This is the only book on this list that I was absolutely obsessed with and could not put down. I can’t remember if I voted for her book last year too… Elsie’s books are amazing and I will never get enough. No notes.
